Keep your feet on the ground

When we first bought the house, there was this sickly, little, sad looking tree in the yard. It was in such poor shape, we didn’t even know what it was at first. We thought about giving up on it, but let it be in hopes that it would survive. Well, it did survive, and in fact has flourished. It’s actually getting a bit out of control. Besides that, it happens to be a wonderful subject for the camera –

Another, albeit not very good, shot for perspective –

So, there’s the Japanese Maple in the back yard.

Full house

Jamie is in town from Denver –

Bryan, knowing there would be free food around, showed up too –

They may not approve, but it’s situations like this that demand that I keep the camera out. And turned on. And when they aren’t paying attention, randomly take photos. Making them feel goofy and look goofy-er. Tough. That’s what we old people do. And as long as I’m buying (dinner, drinks, room-n-board, laundry services – whatever), I get to be that way.

Wait til their Grandma and Aunt show up in a couple hours – that’s when the REAL fun begins.

What to do,

When it sunny and 73 in Seattle? Head for the nearest body of water and have a sit, that’s what

Down by the Locks in Ballard. Fish ladder is closed, no osprey, no harbor seal pups, not even any boats. But the locals were loving it none the less.

Hopps approves….

The Chicken’s new station –

Outdoors, in a shady corner of the deck, standing guard over the begonias. Or geraniums. Whichever.

Without that menace in the house, Hopps is a very happy girl indeed.

Mike put his boat in the water

An empty boat trailer can mean a couple things; Either you’re missing something, or, it’s the start of the season and your boat now resides at a dock. Hopefully the latter –

Let the good times roll I say.

Got a bit of a ride in this weekend

Someplace I’ve never been, Deception Pass. Guy and me, just out cruising –

Stopped at THE photo opportunity

Saw this jetboat out entertaining the masses –

Reminded me of Montreal a few years ago. And has me looking forward to Grants Pass in a couple weeks.

Happy Mother’s day to all you Moms out there

They always are looking after what’s most important to them –

That’s what they do.

Thanks Mom.

I love you.

Whirling away at work all week

Then this catches my eye in Mike’s front yard –

Not technically a ‘whirlygig’ but sorta along those lines. I thought it summed up the week nicely. We’ll see if that’s the mentality after golf tomorrow…..

Someone want to clarify this?

Why is there a crazy, painted, metal chicken in the house?

Any input would help.

Thanks,

Hopps

As the Rhodie turns

The unofficial, official plant of the Pacific Northwest; Mr. Rhododendron –

We have two in front of the house, one (shown here) that seems to like us. And one that doesn’t. First blooms this year for the happier of the two.

We’ll have another chat with the nonconformist of the pair.
