Taking advice

Total strangers with Post-It notes have decided to dictate the day –

We’re down with that. So was this guy, as long as it involved a nap –

Then there  was this guy who wanted nothing more than a bit to eat –

Important that someone is watching out, while the rest of us are eat/drink/sleep-ing our way through SF –

Playing tourist

Got up this morning and went to the zoo.  San Francisco has a nice zoo, but our’s in Seattle is better. Not very busy today, and the weather was perfect for taking photos –

The penguins were in proper attire –

The Australians were busy doing what they do best; Sitting around doing nothing, or beating each other up –

Lunched at the Cliff House and then it was off to the Conservatory of Flowers. Cool old place, full of, you not gonna believe this, FLOWERS! Crazy, cool, weird, unique, flowers –

Drove around and happened upon this cool looking bridge in the distance –

This deserves a closer look. Yup, good looking bridge. They ought to give a cool name, something catchy the tourists could remember. Looking North towards Marin –

Final stop, after a driving tour of The Presidio and Fort, The Palace of Fine Arts –

Out of the sticks and into the big city

We left Grants Pass this morning, heading for the bright lights of San Francisco. On the way we saw Alpaca –

Funny looking animals –

From that to this, Grace Cathedral, San Francisco –

Got in late so it was off for a bit of food and drink before we go tomorrow and play tourist. No better place to start than a classic gin joint with a hundred martinis on the menu –

Again, sorry to not have better speeds on the road. I wish I could post more photos and stuff, but it will have to wait. Remind me.

Small(er) town Memorial Day celebrations

On our way to California, we stopped in Grants Pass to visit and play. They have Boatnik on the weekend of Memorial Day, so we went with that. They’ve got race boats running up and down the Rogue; You just don’t get this kind of action in Seattle –

More to come with faster internet speeds……

Oh yeah, she’s back!

Took a couple days for the cats to get back to feeling like they own the house. We’ve got this one letting the world know how tough she is –

Although she has yet to get over the chicken incident, she has got the grass running a bit scared –

That’s my girl!

Homeward bound

So I’m walking over to get the car back and happen upon this –

It’s Iceplant. And it’s blooming. Very strange for Seattle.

Now, I know California has their state flower and all, but this reminds me of California more than any Golden Poppy.

Funny that we’re heading there this weekend and I stumble upon the only blooming Iceplant in all of Western Washington. With any luck, I’ll manage to keep the golf equipment out of the Iceplant, but no guarantees.

Simplicity

Not that I’m gonna get all nostalgic about a 1947 VW Bug, but it’s simplicity amazes me –

Gas? Check. Fire? Check. Okay, we’ve got the ‘engine’ part covered.

Now for the controls –

Looks straightforward enough….

I took the diesel in for service and they offered me a bit on a trade-in for the Bug. I thought about it for a while. Until I realized they were talking about the NEW New Beetle, and not the cool, ancient, old Bug on the showroom floor.

Probably better off this way I guess.

An exterior shot. Sorry about the poor lighting and all the reflections, they’re more for the pretty new cars. Not so much the oldies.

2 of the interlopers are gone,

I think it’s probably safe to come out from under there –

No? Okay, wait ’til Jamie leaves tomorrow, and then the house will be back to normal.
