June 9th – HAPPY BIRTHDAY POP!

The day slipped right on by without me posting a photo up. Again, I took the photo, but I failed at posting it. Sorry, my lazy weekend got the best of me yesterday. Without further BS, well maybe a little, we’ll jump into the WayBack Machine to yesterday….

Lost of activity in the backyard yesterday. First it was off to the store for a pressure washer so I could clean the pond filter. It does a ten times better job in one-tenth of the time, I waste less water, and consume far less beer during the task; I think the thing will pay for itself in a matter of two or three filter cleanings. Plus it’s a piece of equipment powered by gasoline – What kind of guy would I be if I didn’t love that? Sorry no photos of me and my new toy, but trust me, I look fantastic weilding that wand.

After playtime was over, I sat down to watch the hockey game. Beer in hand, 5 minuets into period 1, and I start hearing the new neighbors chickens. Only, they’re really loud tonight. I walk out on the deck and realize, the chicken is in the yard. THEY’VE ESCAPED! I sound the alarm and grab the camera, cause watching Marla try to catch a chicken is going to be funny. I told her Rocky could do it, so could she. She decided to bribe the chicken with bread (Who knew they liked hamburger buns so much?). Properly suckered in, the escapee was captured –

Walking her back to her pen, we came across her cellmate, who was trying to plead innocence –

We herded them both back to their house, and found the obvious ringleader hanging out, acting like nothing ever happened –

No one was home, so we closed the fence and left. I think I can now put ‘Chicken Herder’ on my resume. And here in Seattle, that might come in handy.

It’s June 8th already!

And it’s snowing out?

No, wait, it’s only the Cottonwood flying. Sometimes it looks like it’s snowing. Thankfully I’m not allergic to this stuff.

Canadian Grand Prix this weekend folks, enjoy the sights and sounds. One day we shall return????

A few days away,

And things sure changed around here. Take these guys for example –

They weren’t there when we left, but they sure have exploded around the pond while we were gone. They have a fancy name that I can’t remember, are Iris, and they look cool, and apparently rain and sun makes them grow like weeds. I like ’em.

Noise please

New camera does video, so I thought I’d try –

What do you think? I think the video is 10%, the rest is all about the sounds. Watch it again with your eyes closed and the sound turned up to 11…..

Yup, that’s better.

BZZZZZZ

The yard is literally buzzing with activity –

Bees! They do love our Foxglove, which is good cause there’s plenty of it. As long as they’re not stinging me, let ’em have at it.

Keepsake (noun)

– something kept or given to be kept as a memento –

Freshly stolen acquired, from the 18th fairway at Pebble Beach, a little keepsake. Just a couple of divots that will someday be the basis for my entire front lawn. They’re being planted in the greenhouse as we speak.

So we made it home, the house is in one piece, three of the four cats are talking to us and the bags are unpacked. I’m tired. I think I need a vacation from my vacation. A full and detailed reports is to follow, if I get around to it. Good to see everyone;

Steve; Sorry we didn’t get a chance to hang out, but I’m glad you made it out for a bit of golf. What was the result of the game?

Dan and Julie; Thanks for letting us eat your food, drink your beer and generally make slobs of ourselves.

Bob; 1 word – It’s-It! Thank you.

Bernie; It was fabulous of you to facilitate the transaction of Fred. And THANKS for taking the Aussie to the aeroporto (I’d just about had enough of him at that point. What’s the big deal with the accent anyway?).

Fran; Get that wing in shape for next year!

Mom and Pop; See you guys in a few weeks. And Pop, that approach on 18 was a foot from being GLORIOUS!

Yates; Thank you. Enough said.

High-rollin

It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up –

Packed and heading North, the party is ending. The end of the this little vacation lies just around the curves of the Pacific Coastline from San Francisco through Oregon. Everyone feel free to join in on the chorus with Simon and Garfunkle; HO-OHME-WARD BOUND, I WISH I WAS….

Oh Dear!

For those of you paying attention, I missed yesterdays photo. Not for lack of taking photos, but for lack of ability to post them (Saturday was a long night). So, here’s today’s from yesterday –

I’ll catch up soon, I promise. But for now, enjoy the deer sitting on the fairways at Spanish Bay.
