Out of the sticks and into the big city

We left Grants Pass this morning, heading for the bright lights of San Francisco. On the way we saw Alpaca –

Funny looking animals –

From that to this, Grace Cathedral, San Francisco –

Got in late so it was off for a bit of food and drink before we go tomorrow and play tourist. No better place to start than a classic gin joint with a hundred martinis on the menu –

Again, sorry to not have better speeds on the road. I wish I could post more photos and stuff, but it will have to wait. Remind me.

Small(er) town Memorial Day celebrations

On our way to California, we stopped in Grants Pass to visit and play. They have Boatnik on the weekend of Memorial Day, so we went with that. They’ve got race boats running up and down the Rogue; You just don’t get this kind of action in Seattle –

More to come with faster internet speeds……

Oh yeah, she’s back!

Took a couple days for the cats to get back to feeling like they own the house. We’ve got this one letting the world know how tough she is –

Although she has yet to get over the chicken incident, she has got the grass running a bit scared –

That’s my girl!

Homeward bound

So I’m walking over to get the car back and happen upon this –

It’s Iceplant. And it’s blooming. Very strange for Seattle.

Now, I know California has their state flower and all, but this reminds me of California more than any Golden Poppy.

Funny that we’re heading there this weekend and I stumble upon the only blooming Iceplant in all of Western Washington. With any luck, I’ll manage to keep the golf equipment out of the Iceplant, but no guarantees.

Simplicity

Not that I’m gonna get all nostalgic about a 1947 VW Bug, but it’s simplicity amazes me –

Gas? Check. Fire? Check. Okay, we’ve got the ‘engine’ part covered.

Now for the controls –

Looks straightforward enough….

I took the diesel in for service and they offered me a bit on a trade-in for the Bug. I thought about it for a while. Until I realized they were talking about the NEW New Beetle, and not the cool, ancient, old Bug on the showroom floor.

Probably better off this way I guess.

An exterior shot. Sorry about the poor lighting and all the reflections, they’re more for the pretty new cars. Not so much the oldies.

2 of the interlopers are gone,

I think it’s probably safe to come out from under there –

No? Okay, wait ’til Jamie leaves tomorrow, and then the house will be back to normal.

Sun’s gone

Making for excellent light for the camera. Not so good for the tourists in town, but good for the camera. Don’t know what those little guys are, but they were just begging to be photographed.  –

Busy down at the locks, unlike earlier this week when I pretty much had the place to myself. Lots of boats heading home after the weekend sailings. Lots of tourists milling about watching the boats. Good reason to head for –

As good as food is, you need good company. How about three generations, at the end of the table, having a giggle?

Good stuff. Even if the sun is gone for the week.

Big day

And by big, I mean -BIG!

I haven’t had the time to digest, nor comprehend today. I do think the look on these faces indicates the ginormity of it all –

On the deck at Ray's

I’ll sleep on it, and let you know more tomorrow. For now, suffice it to say that Marla graduated today, and it was the most MASSIVE accomplishment I’ve ever been witness to.

I’m so proud of you and so very happy for you.

I love you.
