Since when does the weather forecaster get it right?

Apparently, this weekend. Woke up to rain and wind, just like they said, which put paid to any thoughts of going for a ride today. Instead, it’s car bound and local.

We’re going to have a short Fall, followed by a hellacious Winter. I’ll try and document as best possible for you. First,a  few shots of the foliage changing colors. I will remind you of our state motto, ‘The Evergreen State’, so don’t expect too much. Vermont it ain’t. Without further adu –

The kiddie wading pool at Greenlake. This will go unused until June –

Pathside, was this beaut –

Lakeside, we have this –

Out on the lake, we have this –

The entire spectrum is covered in about 37 feet right here –

Full steam ahead –

And one final foliage shot. Might be my favorite –

Well, there you have it, the extent of Fall in Seattle. It sure isn’t motorcycle riding, but it’s nice nonetheless.

In Seattle…

When you go 80 some odd days without rain, you start to ache for a cloud or two –

Today, Fall truly announced it’s presence – cold-er, windy-er, grey-er. Truth be told, it’s about time. Summer, Thanks! You did a kick-ass job.

The last of it

Sunshine. It’s been a while, but the weather forecasters say the rains will return this weekend. And once the rains start, it’ll be non-stop until May or June. Might as well enjoy the sunshine while it’s here –

Maybe they’re all wrong and we can escape on the motorcycle again this weekend?

Enough with the paparazzi bit

“The flash thing is really annoying, so give it a rest….”

“Or I’ll have Stevie Williams smush your camera.”

More from the road

Got up and went for a walk this AM. It was cold, like in the 20’s cold. Milton was warming up in the sun while the windscreen was frosted over –

Went down to the river to see if the water was still flowing. One word answer; Yup –

Everyone was working their hardest, including the plant-life

The birds were making the worms run for cover –

The deer were keeping to themselves, enjoying breakfast –

Seriously, Eastern Washington is a half a galaxy away from the metropolis of Seattle. It’s nice that it’s so close. Yet, so far. We’ll be back soon.

Winthrop Washington

Here   –    http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Winthrop,+WA&hl=en&ll=48.494768,-120.536499&spn=2.435295,6.696167&sll=47.489406,-117.580053&sspn=0.077601,0.209255&oq=winthro&hnear=Winthrop,+Okanogan,+Washington&t=m&z=8&iwloc=A

North Cascades Highway is going to close for the winter soon, so we took advantage of the weather, and the motorcycle and rode out here. It’s nowhere. It’s good. They have wood sidewalks, a cowboy hat store and a guy in Three Finger Jack’s Saloon wearing a shirt that said “If God wanted us to be vegetarians, he would have made broccoli more fun to shoot at”. What’s not to like about a town like this?

Low 40’s on the temp display when we were going over the pass, upper 70’s at the foot of the hill. Crystal clear out, perfect weather. Bonus; the moon is hiding on the other side of the planet and there are TEN GAZILLION STARS OUT!!!!!! I could see why someone would want to live like this. Right up until there’s 250 inches of snow on the ground…..

More pictures tomorrow.

‘Constantly amazed by the blades of the fan on the ceiling’

Little Miss Magic by Jimmy Buffett.

The GINORMOUS sunflower in the yard –

Soon to be ate

The little pumpkin patch around the corner with a total of 2 slow growing pumpkins –

Hurry up! Your on in 25 days…

The heart shaped sunflower hanging out with the 2 lonely pumpkins –

Not a cloud in the sky

All on my walk tonight.

Cool.

Just about ready

We’ve got the lights strung, all 3 inflatables up, and most of the ghoulish bits. A few more gravestones and a ghost or two and we’re gonna be set  –

My neighbor across the street and his decorations!

Updates to follow, with the 31st being the ‘Grand Finale’.

Gonna pick this up for Guy

Spotted on my walk around the hood –

Just rough enough to be cheap.

Just clean enough to make it a runner.

Now that’s a cool-old driveway

This town really isn’t old enough to have cool-old anything. Sure, it’s been here for a hundred years, but it really didn’t exist for the first 75. To see a cool driveway in this town is different enough. It ain’t the classic Southern Plantation, but it’s what we got –

Notice the interloper? It’s bad enough there’s a 2001 Olds Alero in the shot….
